So spring is here, flowers are blooming and the smell of greenery wafts through the air. The weather is getting if not superb, fantastic! Hence on Saturday morning, the irritatingly beautiful weather with the fiery yellow sun against a blue canopy sky triggered a 'beach bum reaction' in us and we made a trip to Newcastle Beach. Decked out in our not-so-cool and not-so-colorful beachwear as well as not-so-pleasant smelling suntan lotion, The Klang Clan made our way to Newcastle Beach.

While walking to the bus stop, something on the floor caught my eye. There were loads of fallen leaves on the road but 2 leaves had come together in a unique orientation to show this:

What are the odds right??? Ya la... I know it's lame la but then seriously what are the odds??! Call me weirdo but I just think it is damn chunted. Heh.

Anyway, it was a brilliant day out! When we arrived at Newcastle Beach, the glistening waters and warm sand against our toes felt absolutely fantastic. It was nice being able to dress up in thongs (NOT underwear) and surf pants again after a gruelling 3 months of horrible, shitty, cibaified winter weather. Have to be wrapped up in huge jackets and stay at home all the time. Wear nice clothes also cannot show. DAMN YOU WINTER!!! Spring and summer are going to be DA bomb!

We had only ONE beach towel for FOUR people. WTF. Damn paiseh man. It could only fit one butt cheek each from the four of us. Somemore not as if only Gucci or Prada sells beach towels. Never mind, next time we will have one each! Did a lot of camwhoring which was fun fun fun! But bikini bods were definitely impossible since our weights are around 3 digits now. KG.

Fantabulous sun, sea and sand

It was really nice to be able to relax and chill, stare out into the ocean while listening to tunes on your iPod. Utter serenity and calmness tends to descend upon you and the feeling is just plain great! Ultimate essential: Sunblock. No excuses un less you wanna look like satay kambing.

The water was BLOODY COLDDDDDD....but after splashing around for some time, you tend to get used to it and will want to play more! More addictive than ecstasy. Not that I have tried HAR.

Travelled back in time 10 years while splashing around and SCREAMING.

It was as if the purpose of the trip was an eating spree cause we ate SO MUCH. After having egg sandwiches brought from home, we headed over to Kiwi's for their famous ice cream. It's a must try when in Newcastle. The ice cream at least. Wen Ya and I shared a $10 waffle which was sooooooo not worth it. But it's good and cheap when you get the single scoop waffle cone.

We sat in front of a freaking car park entrance to eat it since the place seemed like it was closed with gates blocking the entry. When we were almost done, a car suddenly drove out from the inside and that was when we realized that the gates actually open when the car comes. Thank God we were done. So unglamourous to die in front of a car park entrance with ice cream all over your clothes and dripping from the corners of your mouth. CHOI!

Cones Vs. Hot Waffles

Lunch followed after the ice cream session. We just strolled along to see what was available for lunch. In the process, we discovered the beauty of Newcastle and Emmerie could not stop proclaiming her love for Newcastle loudly.

Come to think of it...Newcastle is like Kampung O.C. only what! Same la...See NewPORT Beach Vs. Newcastle. Only difference of the word PORT.

After tons of camwhoring, we finally settled down for lunch. Decided on some Wood-Fired Pizza at Queens Wharf. The restaurant was called B.W.P and to celebrate their 11th Anniversary, ALL pizzas were priced at $11. What would an Asian do? Let me enlighthen you. Answer: Choose the most expensive pizza with the most expensive ingredients since all same price la! We ordered a Dallas (BBQ Chicken) and Newfoundland (Smoked Salmon with Caviar *evil grin*) plus Calamari rings as appetizer. Eating there while basking under the sun was damn cun! Summore can see yachts passing by.

Calamari Rings with good Chilli Sauce (like, finally!)

From Top: Dallas and Newfoundland (Good shit!)

Klang Clan with pizzas and 'pui bin'.

A Yacht! There's a man on top if you look closely.

Even after being stuffed down with pizzas and calamari rings, deep in our hearts we knew there was a certain place called Harry's Pie - another well-known food joint, just a stone's throw away. Another guessing game: What do we do then? Answer: We battle the grosteque folds of our stomach when we sit down and cross the road to buy some pie. You can opt for Mashed Peas with gravy on it which is OH SO GOOD!

Posing with pie

It was as if some Kangaroo bit us in the ass cause we were attempting jumping shots the entire time:

On the sand....

In the water....

At the park....

Passers-by kept looking at what weird stuff we were up to but who cares. Never see people take jumping pics before is it??!!

In a nutshell, it was a brilliant day out. The scenery of Newcastle on weekends is no doubt one to marvel at. Toddlers dominate the swings and slides in the playground, kids are out on skateboards in the park, hot surfer dudes and chicks line the beaches while the adults enjoy a cold beer and lunch on the foreshore. Coupled with perfect weather, everything today was peachy. Today was a good day and I am all smiles.

Let's get it started!
